Trinity International Bible University began with a singular purpose - ministry preparation. Since 2001, it's been our vision and mission to educate Christian leaders. TIBU was founded to teach and train ministers and Christian workers under the banner of God's inerrant Word. Our mission at TIBU is to educate preachers and other Christian workers for Christ's church.

TIBU was founded to provide a wide variety of accredited degree programs in Bible and ministry for adults who were serious about serving Christ. In fact, its mission is, to "educate preachers and other Christian workers for Christ's church". Today, of course, non-traditional programs for adults are the fastest growing dynamic in education, with:

  • Emphasis more on analysis and application than rote memorization
  • Opportunities year-round and round-the-clock for busy adults to finish their degrees without neglecting their families, church     commitments, or jobs
  • Professors teaching part time while working full time in the  helping professions in the real world

Non-traditional means that the courses are geared primarily to adults who are highly motivated and seriously committed to Christian leadership. It means that the campus is non-residential, with the vast majority of students driving in from a distance. It means that courses can be taken onsite, online, in churches, or by way of "home studies". Onsite courses can be taken during the day, in the evening, on weekends, in intensive modules, or in an accelerated format. Adults can begin their university education for the very first time, finish a bachelor's degree they have begun somewhere else, or even enrol in a master's program.

TIBU has grown substantially through the years and we continually look to the future while holding fast to the heritage of our faith. Our students and faculty reflect that common vision.

In the classroom and the pulpit, we practice the eternal values that are taught and lived at Trinity International Christian University.

"For the love of Christ compels us"

II Corinthians 5:14 (NIV)

Statement of Faith

THE TRINITY - We believe that there is one God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14).

THE SON - We believe that Jesus Christ, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, is true God and true Man (Luke 1:30-35; John 1:1, 14; Philippians 2:5-11). We believe that this same Jesus will come again personally and bodily to receive the Church unto Himself (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18), to execute His judgment on an unrepentant world (John 5:28-29; 2 Peter 3:7, 10-13), and to establish His earthly kingdom of peace and righteousness.

THE HOLY SPIRIT - We believe in the supernatural manifestation of the Holy Spirit in and through the life of the believer; in His empowering and equipping for service and ministry and in His definite, yet progressive work of sanctification, commencing at the time of the new birth and continuing until the consummation of Salvation.

SIN AND SALVATION - We believe that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned and thereby incurred both physical and spiritual death (separation from God). Further, all men are declared by God to be totally depraved with a sinful nature and have become sinners in conduct (Genesis 1:1-2, 25; 3:6-19; Romans 3:10, 23; 6:23; Galatians 3:22).

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins and in our place, and that any who believe in Him are eternally Saved, justified on the basis of His blood (Romans 3:24-26; 5:8-10).

We believe that both believer and unbeliever will be raised bodily in their own order, the saved unto everlasting blessedness in Heaven and the lost unto everlasting and conscious punishment in the Lake of Fire, (1 Corinthians 15:58; Revelation 20:11-15; 21:1-22:15).

SCRIPTURE -

That the Bible, both Old Testament and New Testament, is verbally inspired by God, is inerrant and infallible, and is of supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and practice (Psalm 19:7-11; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21).

 Purpose Statement

Trinity International Bible University provides a quality, Bible-based, higher education, crossing denominational lines, to equip individuals spiritually, practically and academically for Christian service at home and abroad.

Core Values

We value the authority of Scripture. We believe that the truth is absolute and that it is in errantly recorded in the Holy Scriptures. The sixty-six books of the Bible are our authority. We read them at face value and apply them to our lives as individuals and as an institution. The authority of Scripture is our primary value.

We value the supremacy of Jesus Christ. Because Jesus is Lord, we are committed to knowing, worshiping, and following Him, our resurrected King, God and Saviour. We are equally committed to the supremacy of His purpose to disciple the nations. Our curriculum, policies, and programs of study reflect the supremacy of Jesus Christ.

We value educational integrity. Because we are committed to the authority of Scripture, we also are committed to do all things for God’s glory. Our classroom behaviour, curriculum, organization, and administration reflect an ongoing pursuit of academic integrity and institutional improvement. We value multi-ethnicity. All men are made in God’s image. Some from all races will trust Christ. Because this is so, we serve a multi-ethnic community.

Faculty, administration, and curriculum reflect our mutual commitments to Biblical integrity and multi-ethnicity.

We value ministry capability. The men and women who serve Trinity International Bible University are proven in the crucible of ministry. Our classes combine both the theory and the practical reality of service so that graduates can effectively disciple others

Institutional Goals

RELATIVE TO OUR KNOWLEDGE OF THE WORLD

  • TIBU students are demonstrating growth in their possession of a  Christian world view, what other major world views are and how come a world view affects one’s thinking and decision making.
  • TIBU students are demonstrating growth in their knowledge of the world and the times in which they live.

 RELATIVE TO A BIBLICAL CENTER

  • Biblical Knowledge - The Bible is our core curriculum. Graduates are able to effectively read, defend, communicate, and multiply Scripture      in others (2 Timothy 2:2; Titus 2; Jude 3-4).
  • Spiritual Progress - TIBU encourages a dynamic, progressive relationship with God, the Scripture, and people. Graduates understand  their position in Christ and the spiritual disciplines, and are able to practice evangelism and responsible stewardship of life (2 Timothy 4:6-8).

RELATIVE TO MULTI-ETHNICITY

  • Cultural Awareness - Graduates are able to combine cultural awareness, Biblical principles, and creative thinking to pursue culturally diverse ministries (Acts 13, 17).
  • Ethnic Appreciation - Graduates are able to appreciate and celebrate appropriate cultural differences while TIBU continues to design courses to meet the need of cultural values  (1 Corinthians 9:20).
  • People Skills - Effective ministry centres on the servant’s ability to relate with others. TIBU graduates possess primary skills to relate to and serve others (1 Thessalonians 2).

RELATIVE TO SERVING THE CHURCH

  • Church Leadership Graduates possess the tools to develop ministry vision and strategies, to deploy Christ’s people to pursue them, and to evaluate ministry according to Biblical norms (Ephesians 4; 1 Corinthians 11-14).
  • Global Participation Graduates further the world mission of the Church by going, sending, praying, and giving (Matthew 28:16-20; Acts 1:6-11; Romans 15:25-27).

Philosophy: We see our role as providing lifelong learning¹ opportunities in theological and practical, church-related studies of a sound academic standard within an open university² environment. We believe that the responsibility for the learning process should be placed upon the student within the context of the local church. We see our role as a provider of reasonably priced, academically sound, Christocentric theological distance learning tuition, via the latest course delivery technologies.

¹ lifelong learning describes the philosophy that in this day and age we all need to be in a continuing process of updating our skills and knowledge.

² In the Open University life experience and less formal qualifications count towards the student’s acceptability. In addition, open universities usually allow substantial credits to be transferred from one discipline to another.

Student Support

We know it is sometimes hard to study in isolation and so we have developed a student support network. Firstly, we will have tutors on standby to answer your questions, either by phone, fax or e-mail. Secondly, we can provide you with names and contact details of other students doing the same subject. Thirdly, we have local support group meetings where our students gather to discuss issues with each other and with the tutors. Finally, we send out regular newsletters, which inform you of all our latest developments. Although you have some flexibility in setting due dates for your assignments, we will follow up if you miss your deadlines we want to help you maintain the momentum of your studies.

Faculty Members

All faculty members are selected for their success in ministry, academic background, and concern and care for students. Contrary to the opinion of some educators, TIBU prefer to select faculty members who hold degrees from International Universities.
